Intimate Enough by Richard LeDue

Like a knock on the door,
a cold morning ruins our summer heat,
leaving us reaching for blankets
and something to talk about
other than the weather forecast-
our nakedness inviting goosebumps
more than passion, our socks on the floor
seeming lost now, instead of abandoned
as part of being alone together,
when we turned night into a closed window
that kept our love safe
and intimate enough to still answer
the door in a timely manner.
